Economic reliance on having a pool of infantry to produce resources results in a lack of flexibility
With a preponderence set towards technology, research and resource-gathering, the United States is a faction that requires strong strategic flair to use. The United States shares some units with England and France, but in other areas it also has other units worth noting: a line of medium ranged and melee cavalry; a Marine unit that emerges two ages earlier than other factions'; as well as a slew differing units at differing ages. It is thus somewhat of a challenge using the United States, as one has to keep in mind that American strengths and weaknesses often shift this way and that way - but one can be assured that by the last two eras, the United States is an extremely strong military force.
- Norse factions have Volvas. Seeresses were said to be sorcerors and tis said only females had this power; they would cast the runes for future and served as medics. In-game function could be to heal and extend LOS
- Christian factions have Priests, were brought to battle while the Seers and Volva (Seeress) weren't always. Players of the North have extensive LOS capabilities, and healing. (More information on both in later comments below)
- Norse Generals called Hersirs. Commanders of Norse warbands.
- Most Norse "senate" leaders called the Jarl. Leaders of Norse clans.
- Germanic factions have Seers and Seeresses; Otherwise function the same as Norse Volva. Regenerating health for units with the added bonus of amazing LOS.
- ALL Germanic Major Generals = Reik- Leaders of Germanic armies and an ode to their ancestors'.
- Germanic Minor Generals = Drohtin - Leaders of Germanic warbands.
- Anglo Saxon factions have Huscarls and all field unique longbowmen.
- Anglo-Saxon General units called the Dryhten. Leaders of Anglo-Saxon warbands.
- Anglo-Saxon "senate" leaders called the Earl. Leaders of Anglo-Saxon regions. Wessex' called the King as is what they believed themselves to be for most of our timeline.
- Norse factions should field the best Navy - Frankia (HRE) and Byzantium (ERE) as contenders. Abbasids and Idrisids also field a fine naval force.
- Norse factions have Berserkirs - the Berserkir was a crucial unit for the Vikings, serves as a fast-moving tank.
- Norse factions field Shieldmaidens - female warriors armed with swords or axes and Skaldjberi counterpart.
UUs that I have so far
-Helwyr. In Rise of Kings, this was a Longbow unit who could pass through forests, see hidden units and execute spies with impunity.
- Uchelwr. Stealth cavalryman. Breton cavalry mercs are based off this unit.
- Rhehel. Fast running spear unit, but not heavily armoured. Somewhat like the Saracen Jund / Asakir line except that it emerges from the early game onward, and can be upgraded to Pike Sciltron (not applicable to this mod).
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I spoke too soon.

I saw about your Helwyr - historical accuracy aside we could edit them and still include them within. But remember, the Saethwyr is already their primary archer anyways.

In roughly ~850ce.... the Kingdom of Cymru (Wales) was formed under King Rhodri the Great. This leaves me to rename Gwynedd, and also lays out why other Welsh kingdoms are not included - They are apart of this strong, defensive kingdom (which would last roughly 50 years, before a divide; the great KIng Hywel Dda again united Wales in roughly 916ce.) With my research, all this leads to the fact that the single Welsh Kingdom of Gwynedd has been replaced with the much larger and stronger Kingdom of Cymru known simply to the Saxons as Wealas - Foreigners - most ironically.(Cymru = Wales, in their language.)

Damn, I kinda liked the name Gwynedd lol
But if its more hist acc, no argument there (Aside from eye candy, which is fair too)
Ubba Ragnarson
Cymru, remember, is the ACTUAL name of Wales. I somewhat doubt any Welsh today with a history book , enjoys that they have become Called Wales now overall and, it has just become complacently known as such through the ages but came from the Anglo-Saxon "Wealas", foreigners. Oh, how ironic...

It mightve been tht what they were goin for, since they came to foreign lands, they called the natives "foreigners" but thats my best guess
Also I said I preferred the name Gwynedd anyway, not Wealas (Just for the name feel, whatevers more accurate is more accurate tho I do hope ppl will identify this fac as Wales - Need to focus on identifiers for all facs and get them out with those IDs so theyre palatable to both average & history buff players)
Æthelflæd
There clearly isnt much done for this faction so while Ive been voting n such, @Ubba Ragnarson I strongly highly suggest formatting a Faction Overview like with the others for this to summarize properly strengths & weaknesses. My biggest absolute advice? Put a major bonus on either/both Archer speed and strength/damage, in combination with the natural bonuses and being the "Helwyr" unit Velvet mentioned
Ubba Ragnarson
This faction is actually complete.
Just not yet posted as I work on the vanilla faction replacements, which are just about finished.
Æthelflæd
So this isnt a replacer yet? Whatre Koreas bonuses?

Gwynedd is a client state , or what not, within the Kingdom of Cymru.
Æthelflæd
U said you havent chosen for it yet
@Ubba Ragnarson
Gwynedd is a client state , or what not, within the Kingdom of Cymru.
Æthelflæd
Good
Ubba Ragnarson
Not a client state - Dehubarth and Gwynedd were both part of this Welsh Kingdom.
Also, British are already concrete for Cymru. Not only for their archery bonus, but it fits well.
Æthelflæd
Perfecto
I like the Helwyr name and its special ability, but wht is the British archery bonus?
Is it equatable to wht I suggested?

They spawn archers, as barracks are built.
Some may not agree - through my research of this Kingdom their bonuses fit very well.
Æthelflæd
O does Velvet disagree? Id like to see his reasoning as I look at the bonuses so I can see if I agree
O I definitely agree wit this choice actually
On top of the great archery bonuses, it reps archers even further with forts and stuff
Perfect for Wealas n the lands reputation by the many invaders of Britannia for their bow-skills
Ubba Ragnarson
Especially during this particular period - came across an amazing source the other day I'll dig up, but with Rhodri the Great leading them - they were able to repel Viking invasions quite a lot.

Not just that, the bonuses featured reflect Cymru perfectly as I was saying.

Kingdom of CymruCymru controls the strongest kingdom within Wales at this period of time with contested kingdoms even go so-far to ally with the Danes. This, being due to the Kingdoms' numerous defenses against the Vikings. King Hywel, the ruler of Gwynedd when the Vikings landed, was known as an inspiring, strategic leader, repelling Norse invasions of their kingdom while other kingdoms had a much more difficult time of it. Even as Mercian to the east fell, they repelled the Vikings with their strong forts and impeccable use of guerilla tactics, and archers unparallelled. The Welsh Kingdom of Gwynedd treated them well, almost as equals given their reliance on cooperation, as long as they bent the knee to the King and paid them off.Leaders: King Hywel, Rhodri the Great, King Anarawd Religion/Culture: Celtic Christianity / Briton Best Units:Saethwyr (finest archers in-game, long range and great dps, the Saethwyr is the staple of the Welsh army.) Rhyfwelyr (Slow, heavily armoured axemen/ great axemen. Cymru is known for their agility in their armies, these are no ordinary Welshmen) Helwyr (Hunters, archers which though cheaper and a bit quicker than Saethwyr, They are not as a professional archers of Wales as the Saethwyr are yet still could hold their own) Gwynedd Gwaywffyn The Kingdom of Gwynedd, the primary principality of Cymru, are reknowned for their spearmen. Strengths and WeaknessesStrength: Field the finest ranged units in game. Very capable even on horseback. They also feature the strong Rhyfwelyr, - an axe wielding fierce warrior that can work toward repelling the Danes - they were united and now many kingdoms have joined together to create this confederation. Weaknesses: They lack good melee infantry, making up for it with great ranged archers and capable light horsemen. Overall rely on their agility and light units to win the day, guerilla tactics are a must.
